One Plus One is Four The Simple Buffalo Life The Job of Mommy

What do you think makes a great car?

Is it the way it looks? The way it drives?
Does it fit your family and everything that goes with it?
Is it the technology? Or the comfort?

Any and all of these things are the nature of the Chevy Cruze.

After driving the Cruze around for the past month, I have absolutely fallen in love with it.

As soon as I sit down in the Cruze, it is immediate comfort. And I’m not talking about the seats here people. The entire ambiance of the car is breathtaking.

I remember the first time I drove the Cruze, I was instantly attached. I had the windows rolled up, music playing, and the feeling I had is pretty hard to describe. It was like I was in my own little space. But it didn’t feel little. It was like the entire outside world was shut out, and it was just me and the Cruze.

When I read this off of Chevrolet’s website, it kind of put everything into a clearer perspective: “…Cruze chooses to go about things quietly in the interior. It’s designed with 30 distinct acoustical treatments(5) — including a triple-sealed, acoustic-laminated glass windshield — to create a serene interior.”

Yes, that’s it! That was the feeling I had. SERENE.

“…Its cavernous, quiet interior and beautifully sculpted exterior feel like luxury.”

My view – beautiful!
Things are lookin’ good from the driver’s seat

Exactly. The Cruze is something spectacular. It is such a unique driving experience, I invite anyone to test drive it. It’s worth it.

Other than the comfort, the Cruze drives flawlessly. The acceleration, the braking, the steering. I mean, it’s all there. It’s all perfect. As I had said in a previous post, It’s almost as if the Cruze is driving itself and you are just guiding it along. Exquisite.

The technology is just as amazing. Smartphone compatibility, built in GPS navigation, OnStar, DVD player dash. The Cruze has got it all. I’m pretty sure the only thing it can’t do is take pictures. Everything else is just about covered.

So what about space? The Cruze quickly became the family favorite. Not only is it amazing on gas (especially compared to our bulky SUV), but it fit the 3 of us perfect with plenty of room to spare. The trunk is enormous – it stood up to laundry day, and passed with flying colors for grocery shopping. But just in case (doubtful considering the trunk space) you need a little extra room, the Cruze also has a fold down seat.

I love the fact that kiddo can open the door, get in, and put on her seat belt all by herself with the Cruze. That’s not something she has ever been able to do with out SUV.

So what are my most favorite features?
- Rear parking assist – I don’t know how in the world I lived without that.
- Heated seats. Even though I didn’t get to use them, they would come in super handy when our yucky winter comes.
- The built in GPS. I have the WORSE sense of direction. I couldn’t get my way home without it.
- The compatibility with my iPhone – but I’m pretty sure you readers already knew that.
- The storage capacity still blows my mind.
- The automatic headlights. I never had to worry about turning my headlights on or off in the Cruze.
- The hands-free built in blue-tooth. Not once did I manually have to answer or dial my phone in the car.

There is only one complaint I have about the Cruze. Yeah, in all the awesomeness, there is one thing that bothers me, and it’s on the keychain. So I’m not even sure if this comes with all of the Cruzes, but it bugs me.

Have you ever heard of a “pocket-dial”? When you accidentally call someone on the phone while your phone is in your pocket? Well it’s quite similar. On 3 different occasions, while the Cruze was unlocked, the trunk button on my keychain triggered in my purse or pocket. When you walk up to a car with the trunk open, that’s bad news. But that is my only teensy weensy complaint about the Cruze.

Overall, it’s the perfect car for anyone. It’s perfect for the guy who wants style. The girl that wants speed. The mom that wants space.

It’s perfect for me, but sadly, I have to relinquish the keys and move on.

And who doesn’t love a good carnival? But, to be honest, the annual Italian Festival in Buffalo is MUCH more than just a carnival. Oh sure, it’s got rides and games and fried dough (!!!!), but it’s also rich in Buffalo history. This festival has been around for decades, and it’s packed. No, I mean P-A-C-K-E-D with people. Shoulder-to-shoulder kind of walking. I love it. We go every year. And fortunately for us this year, it’s just a few minutes away from our new house!

Pros and Cons of the Cruze

by karih on July 28, 2011

What a fun ride! And I’m not just talking about the Chevy Cruze that I got to ride around thanks to our Western New York Chevy Dealers!

It was such a fantastic experience to be part of the Buffalo Chevy Girls. I was honored to be asked to take part in this adventure, and I was blessed to be given a 2011 Chevy Cruze LTZ for four weeks. Four. Fun. Week. I can’t believe the time has come and gone already, and here I am missing the Cruze.

There were so many pros and rarely a con when it came to the Cruze. I could spend hours endlessly babbling about the things I loved most in the Cruze. I loved OnStar (it prevented me from getting lost on so many occasions),  and XM Satellite Radio (the fact that they had such a wide array of stations – with music, comedy, sports, news, and so much more – was totally awesome).

Cruze with us to Niagara Falls

by jeanettek on July 26, 2011

The Chevy Cruze takes us on yet another adventure – Niagara Falls! Join me and my fellow Buffalo Chevy girls as we play ‘tourists’ and hit up the Discovery Center and the Aquarium. Then head out with me and the kiddo as we see the most beautiful waterfalls in the US!

Like all great achievements in life, things must change…progress…and ultimately end…for a new beginning to be possible. Sadly, that’s what happened to my beautiful 2011 Chevy Cruze. The Buffalo Chevy Girls on the Go campaign is over, my friends. Over! You’ll still be able to grab that coveted $40 SpaFinder gift card when you stop into ANY WNY Chevy dealer and test drive the 2011 Chevy Cruze {until August 22}, but the boys and I had to say goodbye to our Chevy Cruze.

For one last great adventure, the boys and I met my fellow Buffalo Chevy Girls for some Niagara Falls USA fun. Our drives up were easy enough, thanks to the Chevy Cruze’s OnStar, and after an enjoyable air-conditioned drive we met up in wonderful Niagara Falls, New York.

Aren’t our 2011 Chevy Cruzes beautiful?

We began our great journey at the Aquarium of Niagara where the kids started their day by enjoying the wonderful outside Sea Lion exhibit. Little heads peaked into every bar and little voices exclaimed “HELLO!” to the happily swimming Sea Lions. It was pure joy! Little Rocker even practiced saying “Sea Lion,” which was pretty cute to hear, and M demonstrated how Sea Lions talk by barking.

Before I give you all a review of the Chevy Cruze, I feel I should write Maria (Kiddo’s name for the Cruze) a farewell letter. Weird? Perhaps, but that’s how I roll!

Dear Maria,
The past month has been amazing. I’m so happy I was able to share it with you.
I feel like I’ve known you my whole life, and even though our time has been short, I’m happy to say I’ve driven you. You made me feel so comfortable when I was with you. And you always knew what to do at just the right times. Sure, you would get a little antsy on the highways, but that’s expected. I know you like to live the fast life.
Thanks for the good times. Cruisin’ with your sunroof open, the music pumping, and the AC blasting… they were good times. I know tomorrow will be hard for both of us… but if you start to feel sad, just remember the good times! Remember how excited I was when I got you, and how we automatically connected once you got on the road!
Here are some pictures to remember me by. All of our great adventures ♥

Here’s you at the dealership.
You look so pretty :)

Awww, remember this one? This is when we went and picked strawberries with our friends!

This is you at the carnival! Sorry you couldn’t walk around with us, but just so you know, kiddo couldn’t stop talking about you! :)

I’m sure you’ll miss her too, but there are plenty of other Curzes you can gossip with… I’m sure of it!

Laundry Day! You were such a trooper…

I know you’ll miss the scenic backyard view,
it won’t look the same without you :(

You took us everywhere… from the Beach to Fantasy Island (you know, that nifty amusement park!)

Grocery shopping!!

That’s you with your friends again in Niagara Falls! I know you had a blast there too :)

I know kiddo will miss you a lot too. (Sorry about that sticky window by the way. I’ll clean that up for you tonight!)

And between me and you… I think even hubby will miss you!

I’ll miss you the most though ♥
Peace out, girl scout!

A fabulous One + One = Four 4th of July

by adrienneb on July 18, 2011

Like many other proud Americans, we had a busy 4th of July weekend and were excited about fireworks on Monday. My best friend {the one who just got married!} and her fiance husband {!} invited us out to Chestnut Ridge Park to watch a panoramic view of pretty much all the fireworks on Western New York. We couldn’t say no!

The boys and I hopped into the Chevy Cruze and listened to some cool tunes while we made the 35 minute drive out to the park. The windows were down, Little Rocker was swaying to the music, and RJ was singing like a fool. A sexy fool! We were having a blast, and even Monkey Man had a thing or two to get out on the way there.

The Buffalo Chevy Girls See Niagara Falls!

by karih on July 16, 2011

I think when you live in a bigger city, you take many things for granted. I am no exception to this rule. What many people might not realize is that Buffalo is only a short 20 to 25 minute drive from Niagara Falls. Yes, *that* Niagara Falls! One of the most glorious wonders of the world. Right in our backyard. Literally. What I don’t do that often, however, is venture up the highway to check it out. Maybe it’s the very idea that all those tourists are going to be clogging the roads and attractions? Maybe it’s just that I like what my city of Buffalo has to offer? Maybe it’s a bit of both? But never fail, each and every time I go to Niagara Falls, I’m amazed at its beauty, and can’t wait to go back again and again. Then, time gets away from me, and my memories of bliss fade, and I’m back to the ol “we’ll-see-Niagara-Falls-another-time” excuses.

But not this time! The Buffalo Chevy Girls decided that our special little ones needed to get out and explore some of the things that Niagara Falls has to offer. Kid-style, of course! Our first stop on this fun adventure brought us to the Aquarium of Niagara. What kid doesn’t love seeing fish, sea lions, penguins, and more?
